Kiss of Aroma is a decant-only business — and that means we carry a special responsibility. When customers buy a 2 ml vial of Creed Aventus or Parfums de Marly Layton from us, they have to trust that the juice inside is the real thing. We take that responsibility seriously. This page explains exactly how we source, verify, and rebottle every fragrance we sell.

Where Our Fragrances Come From

Every bottle we decant comes from one of three verified sources:

  • Authorised retailers — department stores and licensed resellers with direct brand relationships.
  • Brand boutiques — brand-owned flagship stores and boutique counters.
  • Verified distributors — wholesale distributors with documented chain-of-custody from the manufacturer.

We don't buy bottles from eBay, Facebook Marketplace, unknown grey-market wholesalers, or discount lots of unclear provenance. If the source can't be traced back to the brand, we don't touch it.

Bottle-by-Bottle Verification

Each bottle that arrives at our studio is checked against a four-point authenticity protocol before any decanting begins:

  1. Batch code lookup. Every bottle has a production batch code printed on the base. We cross-reference each code against the brand's manufacturing records where available.
  2. Packaging comparison. We compare the outer box, typography, serial labels, and cellophane wrap against known-authentic reference bottles we keep on file.
  3. Physical inspection. The bottle itself — its glass weight, nozzle tension, cap fit, sprayer quality, and engraving depth — is inspected under magnification.
  4. Scent calibration. A trained team member blind-smells the opening, heart, and dry-down against a reference sample. Counterfeit juice almost always reveals itself on dry-down.

Any bottle that fails even one check is pulled from our inventory immediately.

How We Decant

All rebottling is done by hand, in a climate-controlled studio. We use:

  • Lab-grade borosilicate glass vials (2 ml) and UV-resistant atomizers (5 ml, 10 ml).
  • Individually sealed caps to prevent evaporation and oxidation.
  • Fresh nitrogen flushing on sensitive compositions to protect top notes during transfer.
  • A single-use funnel per fragrance to eliminate cross-contamination between scents.

Decants are prepared to order — not pre-poured weeks in advance — so the fragrance that arrives at your door is as close to the original bottle as possible. No heat exposure, no UV, no long shelf life in a warehouse.

If you have any doubt about the authenticity of anything you receive from us, we want to know. Email support@kissofaroma.shop with your order number and a short description of the issue. We'll investigate, and if there's any chance the decant doesn't match the original bottle we sourced, we'll refund or replace — your choice, no questions.

Counterfeit fragrance is a real problem in the decant world. We're one of the few boutiques that publishes the process above publicly, precisely because we want customers to have the tools to hold us accountable.

How to Spot a Suspect Decant (Anywhere)

If you're shopping for decants at another seller, these are the common red flags to watch for:

  • No sourcing statement. Reputable decant sellers will explain where bottles come from. Silence on sourcing is a warning sign.
  • "Inspired by" language. If the listing uses phrases like "inspired by" or "smells like", the juice is not the original brand's formula.
  • Prices too low to be real. A 10 ml Creed Aventus decant at $10 is mathematically impossible — the original bottle costs $400+.
  • No return policy. Legit sellers stand behind their product.
  • Vague packaging. Unlabelled vials, no scent name printed, no batch info — all red flags.
